Public Elementary and Middle Schools
Downers Grove is home to twelve public elementary schools and two public middle schools.
Two of the elementary schools, Prairie View and Elizabeth Ide, as well as Lakeview Junior High School are part of the Center Cass School District 66, which encompasses the extreme southern portion of Downers Grove as well as parts of surrounding areas.

Public High Schools
Both High Schools in Downers Grove fall under the jurisdiction of Community High School District 99 and are named for their respective territories, North and South. These two High Schools serve the entire area of Downers Grove as well as parts of Bolingbrook, Oak Brook, Westmont, Darien, and Lisle.
District 99 regularly posts higher ACT scores than the state average, and in 2004 the Illinois School Report Card gave North High School an overall achievement score ranking it seventh highest in DuPage County.
