Schools in the fabulous community of Clarendon Hills fall under the authority of Community Consolidated School District 181, an award winning district dedicated to empowering educators to pour into their students! District 181 is governed by a seven-member Board of Education elected to four-year terms.

This board meets on the fourth Monday of each month at Hinsdale Middle School, which is located on the original plot of William Robbins’ first school founded over a century ago in 1866!

Class Size
School enrollment is just under four-thousand students, and typically class sizes come in at just under twenty-three students per educator, with many institutions featuring even more favorable teacher to student ratios.

Curriculum
District 181 offers a comprehensive K-8 curriculum covering the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, social science, physical education, health, art, music, foreign language, and social emotional learning.


Clarendon Hills Middle School
Clarendon Hills Middle School is one of two middle schools in the district and one of five public middle schools that feed into Hinsdale Central High School. With an enrollment of roughly seven-hundred students, CHMS was recently ranked by the Chicago Tribune as the 14th best middle school in the state based on standardized testing due to more than ninety-six percent of students exceeding Illinois Standards. In 2009, CHMS was awarded by the U.S. Department of Education with a Blue Ribbon, recognizing it as one of the top schools in the nation!
